R. W. Garcia Breaks Ground on Warehouse Expansion

Lincolnton, NC-R.W. Garcia celebrated the groundbreaking of its first expansion since starting up in 2004 on Thursday, September 13th, 2012 to its existing Lincoln County facility. This expansion will add 30,000 square feet to its existing facility and create much needed warehouse space to accommodate increased demands from North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

Headquartered in San Jose, California, R.W. Garcia is a major manufacturer of over 125 varieties of organic and all natural based snack foods. The Lincoln County facility located in the Lincoln County Industrial Park is the only other manufacturing facility in the United States. Building construction is expected to begin within the next few weeks with completion expected within the first quarter of 2013.

Bob Garcia, President of R.W. Garcia, remarked during the ceremony, “We appreciate everyone for being present and helping to celebrate this expansion. In 2004, we started this facility in a car and an open field. Eight months later, this facility existed and that wouldn’t have happened without the cooperation of Lincoln County and the Lincoln Economic Development Association. This has continued to be a good relationship and we appreciate everything Lincoln County and LEDA has once again done to make this expansion possible. In particular, I must thank and recognize the employees of R.W. Garcia. They are hardworking and dedicated and are a partner in the success.”

City of Lincolnton, Mayor, and LEDA board member, John Gilleland in his remarks cheered R.W. Garcia for its expansion of a facility 2/3 the size of a football field- “ a major expansion.” Mayor Gilleland expressed his appreciation to R.W. Garcia for coming to Lincolnton and Lincoln County with such a substantial investment and the provision of jobs in 2004. “Today, speaking on behalf of Lincolnton and Lincoln County, thank you for what has been done in Lincolnton and Lincoln County and for what awaits going forward.”

The Keith Corporation is the developer on the project and Choate Construction will be the contactor.
