To promote and highlight the contributions and exemplary corporate citizenship of Lincoln County’s existing industries, the Lincoln Economic Development Association proudly recognized American Woodmark as the winner of the 2021 Industry of the Year. “Considering the criteria for selecting the winner of this award, and those applications reviewed for this year, American Woodmark stood out for 2021. “With 2021 being the year it was, we thought they were very deserving” stated Kim Phillips, Chair of the LEDA Board.
Selected by the Lincoln Economic Development Association Board of Directors based upon four criteria: a positive impact in Lincoln County, involvement in the community, a leader in their field with a positive performance record, and a high standard of conduct.
This year, American Woodmark, a manufacturer and distributor of high-quality kitchen and bathroom cabinets, located in the Lincoln County Industrial Park, and Lincoln Counties’ largest industrial employer stood out for its contributions to the community and ongoing economic commitment to Lincoln County.
American Woodmark stated in their application, “We encourage our employees to build connections among each other and our community. In Lincolnton, we recently participated in Operation Backpack that donated 473 backpacks full of school supplies to our employee’s children and grandchildren.
This company also recognized veterans for their service with T-shirts and a military coin and their First Responders by creating a wall to recognize friends and family of their employees who are police officers, firefighters, and EMTs.
Safety is their top priority for all of their employees. They have accumulated over 1.6 million hours without a lost-time incident since September of 2020
American Woodmark is an active participating member of LEDA and the Industrial Manager’s Association. They are involved in the community through company monetary donations and employee volunteering.
In the past two years, their foundation has provided support to the community totaling $62,500.
They donated $12,500 to Hesed House of Hope homeless shelter and a group of 40 employees spent the day working on chores to help them out. They put together a play gym for the kids and worked on a walking trail, moving gravel, dirt, and clearing brush.
They donated $5,000 to Habitat for Humanity.
They also donated $5,000 to the fire department to assist with the building of a live burn training facility, along with communication, rescue, and other personal protection equipment.

All of their employees are also trained on Supporting Values of Dignity & Respect, Responsibility, Accountability, and Caring. This is the foundation for their Standard of Conduct.
