LEDA Existing Business Program #1 in world

Lincoln County – The Lincoln Economic Development Association was selected as the winner in the category of Business Retention and Expansion for the Existing Business Program with a population criteria of 50,000 – 200,000 which was submitted for the 2008 IEDC Excellence in Economic Development Awards. The project was selected by a panel of economic development experts consisting of members from both the public and private sectors.

The award was presented to Barry Matherly, Executive Director and Crystal Gettys, Existing Business Manager for the Lincoln Economic Development Association on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 in Atlanta, GA during the 2008 IEDC Annual Conference.

The Lincoln Economic Development Association has strategically developed an Existing Business Program that consist of an action plan detailing goals, objectives, strategies, programs and services emphasizing our most innovative programs. Over the past five years Lincoln County has had an economic impact on its community with an increase in the overall tax base, and the creation of new jobs; with more than twenty expansions totaling over $242,000,000 resulting in over 1400 jobs. That portion of the economic impact is a direct result from the support of the Existing Business Program.
