LEDA Breaks Ground on New Headquarters

LEDA officially broke ground last week at its future headquarters site at 502 East Main Street, Lincolnton. First Charter Bank donated land for the project in February of2007 at a special ceremony on the property. Lincoln County is making the new building project possible while LEDA conducts a capital campaign to furnish the facility. Once LEDA moves its new location the vacated space upstairs at 127 East Congress Street will be available for Lincoln County use.

The new headquarters, designed by Pinnacle Architecture in Charlotte, NC is set to be a 4,500 square foot single story facility. “The new economic development office will be a welcome addition to new prospects interested in locating in Lincoln County,” says Pete Acker, President and CEO of CMC-Lincolnton and LEDA Chairperson. “We’ve worked with the architects to design a modern and professional building in a modest price range,” Acker notes.

Howard Construction based in Lincolnton is building LEDA’s new headquarters.

“This building project is long overdue,” states Micah Lee, First Charter Senior Vice President and Lincolnton City Executive. “Over the last seven years, Lincoln’s economic develoment staff and volunteers have brought 30 new industries to our community and helped 27 existing industries to expand their operations. These expansions and new industries benefit us all, from the residential taxpayer to the bankers and commercial business owners,” adds Lee.
