Largest Privately Owned Medical Supplier to Locate in Lincoln County, NC

Medline to build a new state-of-art medical supply distribution center in the Lincoln County Industrial Park

Lincoln County, NC – Medline Industries, Inc. is the largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of healthcare supplies in the United States.  Formed in 1910 from a small manufacturer of surgical gowns and uniforms, Medline now leads the market in more than a dozen major medical product categories to include exam gloves, plastic patient utensils, skin care, gauze, bathing systems and much more.

Medline’s commitment to its customers ensures that medical supplies are delivered when needed during natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes.  The future of the company is solid and expected to increase in customer focus, internal strength, integrity and commitment to new products and services.

The Lincoln Economic Development Association (LEDA) has worked with Medline for more than four years as the scope and dynamics of the project changed and evolved into fruition.  Medline will begin construction of a 400,000 square foot energy efficient technology distribution center in early 2014 to be located in the Lincoln County Industrial Park with an estimated investment of $18 million; the company anticipates employing approximately 40 people initially with an additional 60 jobs by 2019.

“As our company continues to grow, we’re proud to work with and serve the Lincoln County community to help bring our products, clinical programs and supply chain services to even more healthcare providers throughout the greater Charlotte area,” said Bill Abington, Medline’s president of Global Operations. “The location of our facility is ideal as it’s near major roads and highways that will enable us to deliver our products when and where our customers need them.”

Bo King, Board Chairman for LEDA, “With the announcement of Medline’s new distribution center, what another great day for the LCIP neighborhood.

On behalf of the LEDA board, we thank you for your confidence in selecting our great community; but even more importantly, the positive economic impact and the jobs you will offer our citizens will be felt for many years to come.”

“We are excited to have Medline join the growing and diverse family of companies that call Lincoln County home.  We look forward to a long and successful relationship.  I want to thank Medline for their commitment to Lincoln County and I also want to thank LEDA for their work over a number of years to make this announcement a reality.”  Says Alex Patton, Lincoln County Board of Commissioners Chairman

“Announcing Medline’s decision to locate in Lincoln County is certainly a rewarding and successful project for LEDA and Lincoln County; it has been a pleasure to work with the Medline team over the past several years.  This project was a collaborative effort between our local economic development office and Lincoln County as well as state and regional economic development offices.  We are excited that Medline will be among our existing industries and look forward to a continued partnership.”  Crystal Gettys, Business Development Manager for LEDA.
