GE Security Safely Lands in Lincoln County

Helps Lincoln County Industrial Park Surpass 2,000 Jobs

May 25, 2007, Lincolnton, NC – Lincoln Economic Development Association announced today that GE Security will be moving into to the Lincoln County Industrial Park. With approximately 200 employees, GE Security’s presence helps the Lincoln County Industrial Park reach a milestone by surpassing 2,000 jobs.

According to Atlantic Region Global Supply Leader, Keith Sultana, “The move to Lincolnton is a positive for GE Security and our customers. The new facility will help us streamline our process flow to better serve customers. We are pleased to be making this move to Lincoln County.”

“We are pleased that a Company of the stature of GE has chosen to locate this very important operation in Lincoln County. It is clear that Lincoln County’s commitment to providing a highly desirable Industrial Park that offers a business friendly environment continues to be recognized by leading companies. We welcome GE Security to Lincoln County and look forward to the opportunities they will offer our citizens and their contribution to our growing economy,” stated Tom Anderson, Chairman of the Lincoln County Board of Commissioners.

GE Security will manufacture electronic security devices for home and business. “Security is important on a local and national level. We are proud to be a part of this important endeavor with GE,” said Harold Howard, Jr., Chairman of the Lincoln Economic Development Association (LEDA).

GE Security will lease a 106,000 square-foot shell building developed by The Keith Corporation. “This is the largest speculative building to date and it is very gratifying to see it lease to a company like GE. The Lincoln County Industrial Park continues to attract quality industry,” commented Alan Lewis, Industrial Development Partner with The Keith Corporation. Choate Construction is the general contractor and Merriman Schmitt is the architect on the project.

This is the third shell building occupied from a very successful program in the Lincoln County Industrial Park. RW Garcia (tortilla chips) and Australian Manufacturing (licorice) are in the other two shell buildings. A fourth 38,000-square-foot shell building has just been completed, and a fifth shell building is being designed.

This also pushes the Lincoln County Industrial Park over 2000 jobs. “It is fitting that a world-class company would propel a world-class industrial park over the 2,000 job milestone,” commented Barry Matherly, Executive Director of LEDA.

Tom Anderson added,”the economic engine that the Park has become is the envy of our region, and we are pleased that Lincoln County can offer these opportunities to our citizens. We thank the companies that have chosen Lincoln County for their facilities and the expansions undertaken by companies that have located in the Park over the years. We look forward to a continuation of the phenomenal growth the Park has produced.”
