Lincoln County’s 2022 Industry of the Year

An industry that has been operating in Lincolnton since 2005 is the 2022 Lincoln County’s Industry of the Year. Active Concepts, which has been in business since 2000, manufactures specialty actives for cosmetics and personal care. “We don’t make finished cosmetics,” Erica Batounis, general manager said. “We make the ingredients that go into them. We do mostly plant extracts, bio-ferments, delivery systems and things like that. We work with brands and manufacturers to create the ingredients that give them a fun marketing story to put on their label.” To be considered for the award, a company must either be nominated by the LEDA board or by the manufacturing community. Once the applications of the nominees are received, the LEDA board selects the award recipient by secret ballot.
