LEDA recognizes Industries of the Year at 2016 Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet
Lincoln County –Lincoln Economic Development Association (LEDA) annually presents the Industry of the Year award at the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Chamber of Commerce Annual Banquet. With the purpose of promoting and highlighting the contributions and exemplary corporate citizenship of Lincoln County’s existing industries, the Lincoln Economic Development Association proudly recognized Tenowo Non-Wovens as its 2016 Industry of the Year.
Selected by the Lincoln Economic Development Association Board of Directors based upon four criteria: a positive impact in Lincoln County, involvement in the community, a leader in their field with a positive performance record and a high standard of conduct. This year, Tenowo Non-Wovens stood out for their contributions to the community and ongoing economic commitment to Lincoln County.
Tenowo is currently in its third recent expansion totaling over 22 million dollars
in new investment since 2010. The local effect of these investments has meant work provided for local businesses and contractors, an increased contribution to the local tax base; each expansion has created new jobs with an additional 15 jobs to be added upon completion of the current expansion.
Tenowo is an active industry partner in the community through membership in Lincoln Economic Development Association, the Chamber of Commerce and participation in the Industrial Manager’s Association. The Industry of the Year award winner is supportive of local charities and events having contributed over $27,000 to various causes since 2009.
Tenowo is also a supporter of education. A participating member in the creation of an advanced manufacturing program to benefit local high school students, this industry was also the Governor’s NCWorks Award of Distinction for its work with Apprenticeship Catawba.
Jim Studdard, Director of Operations, accepted the award on behalf of Tenowo and his teammates, “Thank you again to LEDA for this prestigious award. We are very honored and humbled to be recognized. We strive to continue the positive impact we have on our community, employees and business relationships for many years to come.”
LEDA’s Existing Industry Manager, Kara Brown, praised the winner, “Tenowo is the type of company that is always available to contribute when asked, they are enthusiastic about the community and are active in cultivating our next generation of workers through work in the local schools. Lincoln County is extremely fortunate to have Tenowo as one of our own.”
