Tuesday, October 9, 2012

Industry_Appreciation_Proclamation_007smallToday, the City of Lincolnton and Lincoln County officially signed proclamations declaring the month of October as Industry Appreciation Month. Surrounded by members of the Lincoln Economic Development Association board, representatives from industry in Lincoln County and others from the business community, Mayor John Gilleland and County Commissioner Chair, Alex Patton, signed their respective proclamations which will be on display at the LEDA office. Originally introduced in 2003, Industry Appreciation Month is designed to call attention to the important role our manufacturers and distributors play in the economic well-being of our community. In addition to the Proclamation and signing, an Industry tour is planned at Aptar Food and Beverage on October 16th that will be open to the public. In recognition of the month, other invitation events for LEDA membership and stakeholders are planned throughout the month as well. Kara Brown, Existing Business Manager for LEDA, wants Lincoln County to understand why it is important to celebrate our industries. “Without our manufacturers and distributors who operate in Lincoln County, our community would not be where it is today. It is the economic impact they have that drives our local economy and provides jobs to our citizens. A Lincolnton and Lincoln County without industry would not be an inviting place to live at all. Their presence is definitely worth celebrating.”
