Thursday, August 18, 2016

Mark Vitner, Managing Director and Senior Economist at Wells Fargo, spoke to industry and professional leaders August 10th as a guest of Lincoln County’s Industrial Manager’s Association. Held at Verdict Ridge Country Club in Denver, and sponsored by Lincoln Economic Development Association, the presentation was intended to bring insight on economic issues and concerns that affect our community, state, and nation.

Rege Eger with The Timken Company and chair of the IMA welcomed Mr. Vitner to Lincoln County. Mr. Vitner hit on five key themes in his presentation “The Economy and Manufacturing trends.” For those in attendance, Vitner shared his insight on the economic outlook and the GDP, weaker global growth and Brexit concerns, the monetary policy of the Fed, North Carolina’s housing recovery post-recession, and the mix and shift of economic growth for consumers and producers.

The respected economist expects growth should pick up a notch and shared this thought as a parting message, “recent drags on the economy should diminish in the second half of the year, and inventory building should add to economic growth in coming quarters.”
